Alicante is a city shaped by movement. People arrive, people leave, and others have been here their entire lives. I found myself noticing the contrast between the two.
A travel agency advertising the next destination. A man sitting outside. Someone walking quietly through the afternoon streets. Cyclists moving through the city. An older man enjoying an ice cream beneath the palms. None of these moments are particularly extraordinary. That's exactly why I photographed them.
A person enters the frame, or leaves it — we don't know which. That's the point.
Above him: brochures selling somewhere else. Below: a man who is already here.
A rest point. It stands there, waiting — the same as everyone passing through.
Not "I photographed a man in Alicante." More like: I met this person.
A place isn't only defined by its landmarks. It's defined by the people who live there, pass through it and give it its rhythm.
